An ecosystem is the collection of all the organisms that live in a particular place, together with their nonliving environment. An example of this could be the pool that collects in the branch of the tree. This could include the tree, the water, and any organisms that could use or be affected by it. A community is the set of populations in an area. An example of this could be an ocean: the fish, coral, sharks, dolphins, and any other organism. While ecosystem and community are similar, the difference is that an ecosystem includes the nonliving things; the community consists of only the living. |
